But, since it's "technically" still fall (it doesn't officially become winter until December 21), how about some fall-ish themed cakes? Oh, and there's even a wedding cake at the end of the post, it's not a fall theme though.
Hey...no scrolling ahead! The wedding cake will still be there after you've enjoyed the rest of the post. I should give you long, wordy explanations of everything, just to slow you down a bit, but I won't because I've got an OSU football game to get to, so you get a reprieve.
First off, cake balls. Admittedly, probably one of my least favorite incarnations of cake, but other people seem to enjoy them. These were festively colored for a fall themed meet and greet/baby shower.
Whooo's your favorite cake decorator? Be kind in your answer or maybe just don't answer, instead enjoy this owl themed first birthday cake.
German chocolate cakes lend themselves to a fall color palette, don't you think? Especially when the simple inscription is piped in red.
And, while it may be fall right now, Christmas is only 32 days away! It'll soon be time to set up the tree and wrap packages.
Ok, ok...now it's time to see the wedding cake. Are you ready? Here you go...
The cake was finished in buttercream with the scroll work hand-piped in buttercream. The black ribbons were fondant and the flowers, well, they were non-edible. Trying to match such a deep purple with gumpaste would have been a battle, not to mention having to worry about fading - silk flowers were the better solution in this instance.
Stay warm! And don't forget to cheer on the Pokes tomorrow!
