Neither Snow Nor Rain

Neither snow nor rain nor frigidly cold temps could keep me from attending the 1st birthday party of my first great niece.  Because, I am after all, a GREAT aunt. *wink wink*

Her party was book themed with all the food, drinks, and, of course, cakes being book inspired.  Yes, I said cakes; four to be exact.

Oh Look...A Post!

Yep, it may be a new year, but I'm still set in my old ways.  Queen of timely blogging, I am not.

But, hey, I've got a post for you today.  And, maybe, I'll even keep up after this.  Even though technically, I'll still be behind because these goodies are from November 2017...the struggle...

I could use some magic to help me with my to do list.  What about you?

December = Done

And, I'm back again today with December goodies.  Which means, I have finally managed to get all the 2016 goodies edited and posted.  Let's take a moment to appreciate this happening and to hope I don't get this far behind ever again.

Ok, moving on.

December is for Christmas goodies.  These were my first attempt at petit fours.  They were a pain.  I'm not sure I ever want to make them again.

Pretty in Purple

Just one today.  Though it includes cake, cupcakes, AND cake balls in celebration of a 70th birthday!

I love black and white cakes with a splash of color.  

I don't love trying to match shades of purple.  

So, I didn't in this case; just went with a variety of hues.  

Problem solved.

Sprinkles Are Just Edible Glitter

Though there really is such as things as edible glitter.

I used some on the Valentine cookies that were in a few posts back.  Can't say that edible glitter tastes all that great though...sprinkles are better.

Sprinkles will still get EVERYWHERE though, just like glitter.

I've been crazy busy and haven't been posting much at all lately, so today I've got all the goodies from the month of April 2016 for you.

It's Not May Yet

I've still got a full 24 hours + before May slides in.

And, you're asking, why does that matter?  Because I am trying to prevent myself from getting more than a month behind on posting cakes and such here on the blog...and I'm just coming in under the wire for the March postings.

Yes, the cakes, cookies, and other goodies to follow are from March.  But, hey, at least they are here.

Finally...February

I know, I know...I don't/haven't been posting near often enough.  But, I'll be honest - there's life to lived away from the computer and that comes first, so I don't know that I foresee the post frequency picking up anytime soon.  But, hey, at least I'm still posting some, right?

December Sugar Rush

Hey there!  It's been awhile since I posted cakes and other creations, so as a reward for your patience, today I've got all the goodies from October.

Never mind the fact that it is after the middle of November.  Better late than never right?

Not too many details, etc. will be included today, so just sit back and enjoy the eye candy.

Ba-Na-Na

Well...we all know they are taking over the world.  They are in movie theaters, McDonald's Happy Meals (maybe even cussing, according to some news stories), clothing, home goods - absolutely everywhere.  And, now, they are even in cake...

Apologies for the poor photo quality - it was late.  And, I haven't yet figured out how people who live in humid areas work with fondant and get it to cooperate!  It was humid in these parts when I built these two and the ruffles on the skirts just wouldn't hold - I can only guess that it was due to the humidity.  But, hey, at least it's been raining!

The Calm - Proverbially Anyway

Or in other terms, the first two weeks of May.

May is just a busy, busy month; I usually create more cakes during the month of May than I do just about any other month of the year.  And definitely more than June, June is "break" time - I slack for a week or so as my reward for surviving 31 days of non stop cake.  It's good for my sanity; don't judge.

Bet you're wondering about the "proverbially anyway" addendum to the title up there.  Well...that's because the first two weeks of May weren't really all that calm, but they were a bit lighter on workload...only 11 orders in 9 days (technically it wasn't even a full 2 weeks!).  There's a reason why I own several VERY large coffee mugs...

On to the cakes!

Yep...it's ThrowBack Thursday on the blog today.

And, while we won't be going too far back, the cakes, cupcakes, and other goodies on today's post will all be from April.

Not April of some past year, but April of this year.  (See I told you we weren't going way back...if we do that it'll be on a Wednesday so we can #WBW).

Yes, I've been slacking on posting photos of the creations, but in my defense, May is a SUPER busy month for me, as I'm sure it is for you as well.  Speaking of May, suppose I ought to start working on photos and a post or two for that as well.  Just don't hold your breath, it will be well into June before we get to that point...

Let's get started with our stroll back through April, shall we?

Spring Has Sprung

And it seems that my to do list grew exponentially with the coming of the new season.  I'm not sure how that really works - except I now want to plant flowers and need to mow the lawn, do some spring cleaning...oh, and bake.  It will be wedding and graduation season just around the corner.

But, for now, best to try to find time to enjoy the butterflies and early spring blooms.

Time Flies

When you're having fun.  Right?  Isn't that what they say?  Though I still don't know who "they" are, but if anyone knows, pass along their contact info.  I'd like to have a word or two with them about their definition of "fun."

Here it is the start of March and I'm still writing 2014 on things.  Yep, I must be having loads of fun.  So much so I need a vacation...maybe the mountains...

But, I digress.  I haven't shared any of the February goodies with you yet, and here it is March.  So what do you say we check them out?

December Delights

Yes, I know it's January.

Yes, I know it's the middle of January, but, hey, that doesn't mean we can't still enjoy the Christmas-y confection eye-candy.  (Although, I'll admit, most of these photos are a bit blah...the short days really wreak havoc on my photographing "skills.")

Because I Know You Love It

Love what you ask?  Those moments when I share failed baking experiments on the blog.  Don't worry, I get a kick out of them, too.  At least after the initial anger at the fact the recipe didn't work out subsides, then I have a good chuckle, tell myself "never again" for that recipe and onward we go.

Well, today, I have a Halloween goodie "fail" for you.  Yes, I know Halloween was a couple of weeks ago, but I'm behind schedule.  It's all good, you'll still enjoy it.
